Yorkshire Amateur - Farsley Celtic Juniors reel in Supreme pacesetters

Celtic edged the Medics 2-1 on Saturday and now sit third, just two points adrift of their weekend visitors.

The result leaves Farsley level on points with fourth-placed Stanley United, Wortley in fifth and sixth-placed Leeds City.

Medics, meanwhile, are level on points with leaders Horsforth St Margaret’s with five wins but from seven outings not Saints’ six.

Horsforth made it five from six with a 3-1 win at Ryburn United, courtesy of goals from Laurie Power - in the opening minute then again six before half-time - and Rexhep Ejupi two minutes from the break.

Credit Ryburn who managed to keep Saints scoreless in the second half.

Macaulay Peacock scored the hosts’ goal.

Fabio D’Introno and Spencer Inskip were on the scoresheet for Drighlington in their 2-1 home victory over Athletico.

Calverley United were 4-2 winners over Alwoodley thanks to goals from Matthew Wilson (2), Thomas Reynolds and Joek Binns while Lower Hopton hit the heights with a 3-0 home win over Steeton.

Fourth-placed Stanley United were involved in an eight-goal thriller with visitors and top-four-chasing rivals Leeds City, at the end of which honours were even.

Callum Elson, Adam Hayton and Josh Whiteley (2) were on target for United with Dillon Allcock, Mark Dixon (2) and Matt Purcell netting for City.

Elsewhere, Joseph Hudson and Curtis Lewis ensured hosts Wortley came away with a point from their encounter with Route One Rovers that finished two apiece.

In the Premier, Nostell Miners Welfare picked up their first win of the season after five matches.

Though the 3-2 success was over second-bottom White Rose, Welfare should nevertheless gain in confidence, if only from the fact they netted three goals, bagged by Luca Binsley and Alfie Proctor.

Ethan Labad and Josef Storer netted for hosts Wibsey but leaders Golcar had just enough to see them through to a 3-1 victory. Mohammed Abeed Jawad struck in each half to give St Bede’s a 2-0 victory over visiting Morley Town.

S second-placed Mount St Mary’s ran out 3-1 victors at home to Ealandians.

Louis Clarke scored the consolation goal for the visitors.

Collegians, meanwhile, showed their class with a 4-1 home win over Shire Academics after leading 2-1 at the break. Ryan Fuller, Scott Kirkbright (2) and Jordan Spencer were on target for Collegians with Jacob Coen netting for Shire.

In Division One, Osayande Odeh’s goals brace proved decisive as Leeds Independent edged visitors, Beeston St Anthony’s, 2-1.

Edward Golder bagged the other goal while Lee Coleman and Cameron McNiven found the back of the net for Saints.

Independent are second in the table on points difference alone behind Lepton Highlanders who overran Tyersal 4-1.

Elsewhere, Athletico Reserves ran out 2-0 victors over visitors Thornesians, Leeds City Reserves enjoyed a 2-1 success over Fairbank United, Morley Town Reserves lost out to visiting Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves 5-3, and Shire Academics Reserves were too strong for Horsforth St Margaret’s III, winning comfortably 3-1.
