Leeds were convincingly beaten 3-1 at Cardiff City Stadium by Neil Warnock's side, who became the new league leaders at the West Yorkshire club's expense.

Captain Liam Cooper was sent off just before half-time, although Leeds were already 2-0 down at that point through first-half strikes from Kenneth Zahore and Junior Hoilett.

Danish striker Kenneth Zohore ended his eight-game goal drought with a brace and Junior Hoilett added a beauty before Kemar Roofe gave 10-man Leeds hope midway through the second period.

The Whites actually played better after the break, but went 3-0 down through Zahore's second of the night and although Kemar Roofe pulled one back it was not enough to prevent Cardiff boss Neil Warnock from celebrating victory against his former club.And current Leeds head coach Christiansen felt his side had been the architects of their own downfall."The two mistakes brought Cardiff into the game as they had not created any problems for us, and then the red card was very bad for us," said Christiansen."There was a good response and good character and we played better with 10 men."

Christiansen cited the fact his team bounced back from their only previous defeat of the season at Millwall last week by beating Ipswich at Elland Road on Saturday and backed his players to respond as positively in this Sunday's Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday.He said: "I believe the team responded in the proper way from our defeat at Millwall and we are going to do the same at the weekend."On Cooper's red card, Christiansen added: "The player that I was I know that these situations can happen. Of course, he is experienced in that situation and he should have known how the ball came."But I don't want to blame anyone individually because we win and lose all together."
