Transfer latest: Leeds United '˜eyeing up' Poland international

Klich, 27, made 29 appearances for the Eredivisie side last season, scoring six times and creating four assists.

Leeds are understood to be keen on the player and claims in the Dutch media suggest United have made a bid for the central midfielder which has been rejected. Klich has two years left on his deal at FC Twente who finished seventh in the Eredivisie last term.

The six-foot player joined Twente from German second division side FC Kaiserslautern last August for an undisclosed fee after making just four appearances for the German side in 2015-16.

Kaiserslautern had signed the midfielder from VfL Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee in January 2015, with Wolfsburg having brought the Pole back to their club for a fee believed to be around 750,000 euros in June 2014.

That move came three years after Wolfsburg initially signed Klich for 1.5m euros in June 2011 from KS Cracovia. Klich moved to PEC Zwolle in June 2013, reportedly for 200,000 euros.

The midfielder has been capped 10 times by the Polish national side and came on as a 45th-minute substitute in the 2-0 loss to England at Wembley in a World Cup Qualifier in October 2013.

Leeds are still to make their first new signing of the summer having converted winger Hadi Sacko’s loan from Sporting Lisbon into a permanent deal earlier this month.
