Transfer gossip (Jan 12): Donny brothers join Leeds - Owls and Town strikers in spotlight

Striker Gary Hooper is set to join Sheffield Wednesday on a permanent basis despite his club, Norwich, having sold former Rotherham United forward Lewis Grabban to Bournemouth for around £8m.

The Canaries are expected to bring in Steven Naismith from Everton.

Hooper has scored twice in 10 appearances, including four starts, but is seen as an important part of their bid to reach the play-offs.

Leeds United have turned their attention to Scotland in a bid to strengthen.

Celtic due midfielder Tom Rogic, valued at £1m, and Republic of Ireland 27-year-old striker Anthony Stokes, who has had a loan spell at Sheffield United seven years ago, are on the radar.

The Elland Road club have show interest in Aberdeen goalkeeper Danny Rogers, but he is set to stay after Liverpool recalled Danny Ward from Pittodrie.

Leeds have, however, literally made a double signing in twins Jack and Paul McKay from Doncaster Rovers.

The Glasgow-born 19-year-olds, striker Jack and centre-back Paul, had been on trial at West Ham but have signed two-and-a-half-year deals and are expected to develop in the Under-21s.

Hull City have opened talks with wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady and want him to sign a new long-term contract.

Elmohamady’s contract ends in the summer which makes it a priority for manager Steve Bruce to keep the 28-year-old stays at the KC stadium.

The Egyptian, 28, is also keen to stay despite interest from Everton and West Bromwich Albion, having joined the Tigers on loan from Sunderland in 2012 before making the move permanent the following year.

Former Hull striker Dame N’Doye is due to complete a loan move to Sunderland.

The Senegal international, 30, sold by Hull to Turkish club Trabzonspor for £2.2m in August, aims to play a major role in keeping Sunderland in the Premier League.

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka says he needs cover in defence and midfield and wants to keep striker Kike, who has been linked with Wolves following their £10m sale of Benik Afobe to Bournemouth.

With cash to burn, Wolves are also said to be interested in Huddersfield Town top scorer Nahki Wells.

Bermuda international Wells, Town’s £1.5m record signing from Bradford City two years ago, has also been monitored by Fulham and QPR but head coach David Wagner says he has assurances from chairman Dean Hoyle that he does n ot have to sell.
