His withdrawal was confirmed by Sweden’s Football Association this afternoon.

United have just under two weeks until their next Championship match at home to Bristol City and the club have yet to confirm the severity of his injury but Jansson’s fitness is another concern in an area of the squad where Leeds are already short of players.

Defender Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi are both out until the new year with knee and hamstring problems respectively and Tom Pearce missed Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at West Brom with a bruised metatarsal.

Bielsa named Under-23s full-back Leif Davis on the bench at The Hawthorns to provide defensive cover.
