Illan Meslier believes a more experienced Leeds United are better prepared to take on reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.

The Whites welcome Jurgen Klopp's outfit to Elland Road this evening in top flight action under the LS11 lights.

Leeds came to blows with the Reds on the opening day of the campaign back in September, falling to a thrilling 4-3 defeat at Anfield.

United have hauled themselves into 10th place in the standings with seven games to go having impressed following promotion as Championship winners last summer.

Liverpool have endured an up and down campaign, sitting 6th and three points outside of the Champions League qualification places.

Klopp's men will finish the year trophyless after lifting the top flight crown last season but Leeds number one Meslier is still expecting a tough test.

“It was our first game in the Premier League against the champions,” Meslier reflected.

“This time we have more experience in this game and we are ready to fight against this big team.

“Against a big team is always difficult, we arrive with our own quality and we will try for our best performance, if we can win this game it is very good.

“If I can make a good performance to help my teammates, it will be very good for me.”

Asked about last week's stunning victory over Manchester City, he said: "I think it was a good victory, against the best team in the Premier League, and with one player less!

“I think it is important for us to win against a big team, now it is done, so now we are focused for our next game.

“That feeling… I was so happy for Stuey to score again, I remember it was like Swansea away when I got that feeling, it doesn’t happen a lot, it’s when it is important.”
