Leeds United are back in the Championship play-offs five years after their previous appearance. 90 points was only good enough for a third-placed finish this time round and so Daniel Farke’s side face a semi-final meeting with Norwich City and a potential final against one of Southampton or West Brom.
Whites supporters will need no reminding of what happened the last time their side were in the play-offs, with the first season under Marcelo Bielsa ending in all too familiar heartbreak. After beating Derby County home and away in the regular season and welcoming them to Elland Road with a 1-0 first-leg advantage, Leeds capitulated to lose 4-2 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate.
In the five years since that miserable night at Elland Road, those involved have taken very different paths in their respective careers and some are still involved with Leeds to this day. Take a look below to see where the squad from that second-leg defeat are now.

7. RM: Pablo Hernandez
Dragged Leeds through crucial games in the promotion season and his decisive last-minute winner at Swansea City has been immortalised in a city centre mural. Returned to boyhood club Castellon in 2021 following a season of limited minutes in the Premier League, and a number of Leeds fans were in Spain to watch his final ever game before retiring in May 2022. Currently plays for Porcinos FC in the Kings League, a seven-a-side league created by former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. | Getty Images

8. CM: Jamie Shackleton
Loved by Bielsa but found minutes hard to come by in the Premier League and spent last season on loan at Millwall. Remains a part of the Whites squad this season with 11 Championship appearances for Farke's men. Contract is up in the summer. | Getty Images

9. CM: Mateusz Klich
Another who stayed beyond the defeat to win promotion and spray painted his own mural outside Elland Road. Continued to endear himself to supporters before joining D.C United in January 2023, having fallen out of favour under Jesse Marsch. Remains with the MLS side but continues to interact with Whites fans on social media. | Getty Images

10. LM: Jack Harrison
Extended his loan stay to help Leeds win promotion the following season and was one of their most consistent performers over three campaigns in the top-flight. Joined Everton on loan last summer and has played regularly to help them avoid relegation. Set to return this summer but another loan or sale is possible. | Getty Images

11. ST: Patrick Bamford
Bielsa stayed loyal to Bamford and was rewarded, with the forward crucial in winning promotion before bagging an impressive 17 goals in the Premier League. Even won a first cap for England but injury issues have been constant. Still first-choice striker at Elland Road and hoping to win a second promotion via the play-offs. 12. Sub: Jack Clarke
Joined Tottenham Hotspur for around £10m the following summer but a big jump came too early. Returned to Leeds on loan but barely played before leaving early, with spells at QPR and Stoke preceding his move to Sunderland. 23-year-old now fulfilling his potential at the Stadium of Light and is among the Championship's most exciting wingers. | Getty Images
