Everything you need to know as Leeds United travel to Preston North End on Tuesday evening.

Key Battle - Tom Barkhuizen v Vurnon Anita

Gaetano Berardi is suspended, again, so Paul Heckingbottom will be forced into a change at left-back. With Laurens De Bock injured, he effectively has the choice of Tom Pearce or Vurnon Anita and he might be inclined to plump for Anita ahead of a difficult away fixture. Barkhuizen has been effective out wide this season, contributing directly to 15 goals, and his wing is undoubtedly an area where Preston appear to have the upper hand.

Key Man - Ben Pearson

A former Manchester United trainee and a mainstay in Preston’s midfield, part of the protective line in front of North End’s defence. The club have one of the best defensive records outside the Championship’s top six and Pearson’s strong, combative style saw him heavily linked with a move to Burnley in January. He was sent off in the corresponding fixture at Elland Road in August.

Last time at Deepdale:

Monday, December 26, 2016

Preston North End 1 Leeds United 4

Goals: Preston - Vermijl 27. Leeds - Roofe 17, Sacko 23, Doukara 31, Hernandez 88

Phil Hay’s Verdict:

Preston are in do-or-die territory when it comes to the play-offs and common sense says that they are too far back already. Their strength for much of this season has been their consistency in avoiding regular defeats and their defence does not usually give away as many chances as Sunderland did at Elland Road on Saturday. Leeds need to be disciplined and clinical to take anything away from Deepdale.
