Whites no 9 Bamford bagged his first ever Whites treble by completing a rapid 19-minute hat-trick to ensure United made their authority count after a dominant but goalless first half.
The victory sent United third and Graham Smyth, the YEP's chief football writer, hands out the scores.
7. Mateusz Klich
8 - The link man. Got about Villa, snapped at ankles, and his physicality was vital after Struijk went off. Good on the ball in the second half particularly. Kept Leeds moving into space. Photo by Michael Steele/Getty Images.
8. Helder Costa
7 - Brief moments of danger in the first half, showed more in the second. Another who didn't stop. Just couldn't quite create magic to finish clever runs off.

7 - His crossing wasn't always of the quality he can produce but by hugging the touchline and getting at Villa he created danger and kept Leeds on the front foot. Did fashion one great cross for Bamford. Photo by Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images.
10. Rodrigo
8 - A frustrating first half, in which things didn't always come off, but he was so clever in the second half. Played some lovely passes, good movement and lots of energy. Photo by Michael Steele/Getty Images.
11. Patrick Bamford
9 - A poacher's goal and then two of real class. Could have had five. Battled manfully against a tough central defence. You can't give 10s and 9.5s don't exist but they should for that performance. Photo by Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images.
12. Jamie Shackleton
8 - A livewire. Buzzed around the pitch, ran it when he had the chance but kept it simple and so effective. His little, quick touches and passes set Leeds away. Got stuck in, too. Photo by Nick Potts - Pool/Getty Images.
