John Prestage, 24, and the teenager, who cannot be identified, are among 28 people to be charged with the offence following crowd trouble outside Elland Road on October 28, 2019.

Prestage, of Nottingham Road, Ilkeston, entered the guilty plea at Leeds Crown Court yesterday (July 19) moments after CCTV footage of his involvement in the incident was played at a plea and directions hearing.

Prestage was granted unconditional bail until sentencing on September 3 but was warned by Judge Andrew Stubbs QC to prepare for the possibility of a prison sentence.

The judge said: "The fact that you are being granted bail is not an indication as to the type of sentence you will receive.

"A custodial sentence is a distinct possibility and you should prepare for that."

The teenager pleaded guilty to violent disorder at a separate plea hearing before the same judge.

The court heard the defendant was aged 16 at the time of the incident.

He was bailed until a sentencing hearing on September 4.

An application by his barrister to have the case referred to the Youth Court was refused.

A total of 26 men and two youths were charged with violent disorder in April over the incident after the Leeds' 1-0 Championship victory at home against Birmingham.

Operation Bandshot, an investigation by detectives from Leeds District CID, identified and traced those charged following a number of public appeals in relation to the incidents.
