Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Manchester City right-back Micah Richards was openly impressed by one key attribute of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

He said: “Leeds have been pressing all game, it’s until the final whistle. I don’t know how they do it. For Marcelo Bielsa to get his squad in this shape is unbelievable.”

Danny Mills – an ex-England and Leeds United defender – was also quick to praise his old club’s performance, picking out Patrick Bamford, who scored a goal and assisted another against Scott Parker’s side.

“We have seen it before, he can score goals and he does have out-and-out quality,” Mills explained to Football Insider. “That is why he is so frustrating. He works his socks off but in the past, it has not clicked for him in front of goal.

“Bielsa has given him a big confidence boost by starting him and playing him as the number nine. He looks more relaxed. If he gets 15 goals in the Premier League this season that would be a great return.

“He did a little step-over and showed Odoi a fresh pair of heels. I did not know he had it in him!”

Speaking about his recent impressive performances, Bamford said: “It’s a nice start. Hopefully, I can keep it up but the main thing is I’m doing my bit for the team.

“If that’s scoring goals, that’s probably the best thing a striker can do, but if it’s not then it’s doing the other things.”
