The Northern Ireland left Elland Road in 2019, but has had to bide his time for a first outing in the top flight.

With Clarets number one Nick Pope out injured, Sean Dyche saw fit to throw the 24-year-old in against Manchester City, and things could have hardly gotten off to a worse start for the former Leeds man.

Within six minutes he was picking a Riyad Mahrez effort out of the back of his net, and he found himself doing the exact same thing 16 minutes later.

By full-time it was five, with Benjamin Mendy and Ferran Torres adding to the keeper’s misery before Mahrez completed his hat-trick.

And for many Leeds fans, Peacock-Farrell’s inclusion was a point of heightened interest, especially given the manner in which he left the Yorkshire club.

Upon Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival, he was first choice at Elland Road, but lost his spot to Kiko Casilla after a dip in form and made the decision to seek first team opportunities elsewhere.

The fact that this was just his first Premier League start in nearly a season-and-a-half would suggest that he still has some distance to go to convince Dyche of his credentials, and baptisms of fire don’t come much hotter than a trip to face Pep Guardiola’s men.
