Former England and Manchester City defender Micah Richards has broken down Leeds United’s 6-2 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.

Scott McTominay became the first player to score twice inside the first three minutes of a Premier League game as the Red Devils climbed to third in the table with a remarkable victory over the Whites.

There were 43 shots in what was an extremely open game, which could have produced more goals.

However, following the loss, many pundits have questioned Marcelo Bielsa's philosophy and the Argentine’s unwillingness to change.

“I call it a style of play that they believe in,” Richards explained. “No matter what.

"How many times have we heard people say, ‘If we’re going to lose, let's have a go!' Leeds did that yesterday but at times they were naive!

"When we did the analysis of Kalvin Phillips following [Bruno] Fernandes, he's had no help at all from Klich or Rodrigo.

"If Ferndanes goes into a forward position, look at the amount of space. I know Bielsa is telling them to do exactly what he wants them to do and a lot of the time they have implemented it in the right style of play.

"But surely there's got to be someone on the field to say, ‘Actually, we can’t do this because Man United are on form and we know how good Man United are on the counter-attack.’

“And they still didn’t change it."
