The pair have proven to be integral assets for Marcelo Bielsa’s side upon the Whites’ return to the Premier League this season, with a combined tally of eight goals and five assists between them.

Both will have a point to prove in Saturday evening’s clash against Chelsea too, with Bamford returning to the club he left in 2017, and Harrison coming up against former New York City teammate and current Blues boss, Frank Lampard.

For Bamford in particular, this season is proving to be a transformative process in terms of his reputation as a goalscorer, and Hargreaves has been quick to laud his progress, while also arguing that wide man Harrison remains under-appreciated by many.

Speaking on the Premier League’s Weekend Preview show, the former England international said: “I think he [Bamford] has probably been relishing it.

"Last time around, everybody said ‘Oh, he’s a Championship striker’, but I think he felt he didn’t get a fair shot. I think he’s proving this time around that he is the real deal.

"He gets great service at times, with Harrison especially on the left. I think he’s one of the most underrated players in the division, but I think for Bamford, he’s producing right and left. He's a focal point.

"Even Rodrigo – you think of the money they spent on him and he can’t even really get in the side because of the form of Bamford.

"I’m delighted for him because everybody said he wasn’t good enough for this level, and he’s showing everybody he is.”
