Travelling Leeds United supporters can look forward to a host of lengthy away trips next season

Leeds United and their supporters can expect to spend plenty of hours on the road next season. The Whites failed to win promotion back to the Premier League this time around and that leaves Daniel Farke's side having to go through a gruelling 46-game Championship season once more over the next 12 months.

Farke and his players won't learn their route through the upcoming campaign until the fixtures are released at 9am on Wednesday, June 26, with the season due to get underway a few weeks later over the weeks of August 10/11. However, they know who they'll be competing with in the second tier and according to Google Maps, United will cover 6,466 miles in away trips. There's a chance that figure could increase when cup competitions are taken into account, too.

Of course, the trip to Plymouth Argyle, which Leeds made twice this season due to their FA Cup fourth round replay, remains the longest journey on the club's 2024-25 calendar. A round trip from Elland Road to Home Park is a staggering 642 miles in total. The arduous journey to Devon will feel a lot shorter if Leeds get the win over Wayne Rooney's side, though.

A round trip to Swansea City's Swansea.com Stadium, where Leeds won 4-0 in February, comes out at 532 miles from Elland Road. Meanwhile trips to Bristol City (426 miles), Cardiff City (458 miles), Millwall (416 miles) and Portsmouth (506 miles) all total over 400 miles. The trip to the latter will be a relatively exciting one for Leeds fans, though, given the Whites haven't been down to Fratton Park since February 2012.

Interestingly, Leeds haven't been to Oxford for a competitive fixture since 1994 before the U's moved from the Manor Ground to the Kassam Stadium, which will give many Leeds fans the opportunity of a ground tick. The round trip to the university city comes out at 346 miles.

Local rivals Huddersfield Town have been relegated to League One, meaning Leeds won't be making the short jaunt down the M62 any time soon. Rotherham United have also dropped out of the league. Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United have returned to the second tier, though, and a round trip to Bramall Lane comes out at just 72 miles.

Sheffield Wednesday is Leeds' nearest rival next season with a round trip of 64 miles, while the trip across the tops to newly relegated Burnley is 68 miles there and back. True derbies are in short supply next season but Leeds can still look forward to Yorkshire rivalries between Hull City (118 miles) and Middlesbrough (146 miles). The clash with promoted Derby County (152 miles) looks set to be tasty, too, given the recent history that exists between the pair.

All of the above distances have been calculated through the quickest road route from stadium to stadium on Google Maps.
