Stuart Dallas is under no illusions at the importance of Leeds United's meeting with Manchester United this afternoon.

There will be no fans in attendance at Old Trafford as the Whites renew rivalries with the Red Devils for the first time in the top flight in nearly 17 years.

The two arch rivals, though, know that bragging rights are on the line across the Pennines.

Marcelo Bielsa's side travel to Lancashire following a 5-2 victory over Newcastle United in midweek while the hosts defeated Sheffield United 3-2.

This afternoon's encounter will have an added edge, with both sets of supporters knowing the value of victory and all three points.

“We know how significant the game is and how big it is," Dallas said ahead of kick-off.

“But at the end of the day it’s just another game, we need to concentrate and make sure we’re prepared for it. We know how good they are and the threat they pose.

“It’s a pity there will be no fans in the stadium, we’ve all waited a long time for this.

“It’s the bread and butter as you call it, well we do where I am from anyway.

“It’s huge, it’s one we’re really looking forward to and hopefully we can go there and pull out a performance."

Leeds last faced the Red Devils in non-competitive action during a pre-season tour in Australia over a year ago, a game in which Dallas needed stitches.

“There were a few rough tackles flying around and I ended up with a few stitches, but it was accidental," he added.

“The game was a massive learning curve for us, we were playing Premier League opposition out there and it showed.

“I think we’re ready now to go to places like that and put in a performance.”
