Stuart Dallas reveals Erling Haaland's Leeds United message following shirt swap

Stuart Dallas says Erling Haaland wished him and Leeds United well for the Premier League season ahead following their Nations League encounter.

Haaland, who was born in Leeds and is son of former Elland Road player Alf-Inge, was spotted asking to swap shirts with Dallas on-pitch post-match as Norway toppled Northern Ireland 5-1 at Windsor Park.

The 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund star has previously confessed to having a soft spot for the West Yorkshire club following his father's time in LS11 in the late nineties.

“It was a nice touch," Dallas told PA Sport.

"Obviously there’s a Leeds connection there but I didn’t think he’d want to swap shirts with me.

“It’s nice that he keeps an eye on Leeds and he wished me all the best in the Premier League and that shows a lot about the type of person he is.

“His performance was incredible. He’s only 20 and he has a big future ahead of him… maybe someday he’ll come to Leeds.”

Marcelo Bielsa's side are preparing for their first top flight clash in 16 years this weekend.

The Whites travel to face reigning Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening and Dallas believes there is no better curtain raiser.

“Obviously the club has waited a long time to get back in the Premier League and there’s probably no tougher way to start the league than by playing the champions,” Dallas admitted.

“We know it’s going to be hard, it’s going to be difficult, but we’re confident. We’re not over-confident, we know what’s ahead of us but we’re looking forward to it. Champions versus champions is a good way to start.

“As a young boy I dreamt of playing in the Premier League and hopefully this weekend I get that opportunity.” he added.

“To play against the team I grew up supporting as well will be extra special – but I’m a Leeds fan now.”
