STREWTH - Hit, Miss or Maybe: Ten of the best and worst Aussies to play for Leeds United

LEEDS United are set to head Down Under for a pre-season tour next July - with Manchester United among the opposition.

The YEP's Lee Sobot looks at ten of the best - and worst - Australians to have played for the Whites.

Who else? Surely Leeds United's best ever Australian footballer and moreover one of the club's best ever strikers, certainly of the modern era. A star of the Champions League days and who can forget his four-timer against Liverpool. Left for Middlesbrough in the summer of 2004 following the club's relegation having made 166 appearances, scoring 72 times.

Went on to play for England but born in Adelaide and part of United's Division One title-winning team of 1992. Highly thought of and a class act at left back.

You'll never beat Kisnorbo they said and the former centre-back goes down as one of United's more successful Aussies after 58 appearances between 2009 and 20013 - a figure that would have been more but for injuries. Played a big part in helping Leeds out of League One and also excelled on that famous day at Old Trafford.

Initially part of the grim days in League One but played 144 times for the Whites - helping United out of the division into the Championship - and part of the side that allowed Leeds fans to remember the date against Manchester United in the FA Cup. For that - and promotion - it's a hit.
