Hide AdReports emerged this week that the Whites had submitted an offer in the region of £10million to the Ibrox side for the 23-year-old.
United appear to have reignited their interest in the forward having failed to land his signature last summer from then parent club Liverpool.
Leeds were keen to bring him to Elland Road from Merseyside but Kent opted to make his loan switch permanent north of the border with the Scottish Premiership outfit.

Hide AdGerrard - who was speaking ahead of his sides clash with Kilmarnock this weekend - has now revealed that an official approach from Leeds has been rejected.
"Ryan (Kent) is a player we admire very much here and we have seen him develop," Gerrard said.
"He is progressing very quickly and is a player we want to keep hold off. We very quickly rejected an opening bid that was nowhere near his valuation.

"I have spoken to Ryan and he is totally focused on the match tomorrow."
