Former Rotherham United boss Evans spent just over seven months in charge of Leeds from October 2015 until May 2016 as part of the Massimo Cellino era.
The Glaswegian regularly saluted the size of the club and its far-reaching, global fan-base with the Scot's appreciation of Glasgow Celtic also often highlighted during press conferences.

And speaking in an interview with Herald and Times Sport, Evans again acknowledged United's standing in recalling being asked about the biggest jobs in UK football during his time at Elland Road.
"I was at Leeds and everyone at the time, and still today, would recognise that they are probably one of the four or five biggest clubs in British football," Evans told Herald and Times Sport.
"I remember someone asked me, in terms of UK football, what would be considered a bigger job.

"I never applied for the Leeds job when it came up, nor did I apply for the Rotherham job or Gillingham.
"I think when the Celtic job came up, if you're Peter Lawwell, you'd have the key list of things to do and want to find someone who knows the club, knows how they work and after five or six check points, they'd only have two or three names on the list.
"And I certainly wouldn't be one of them.
"I've always thought, with football jobs, if you're applying then perhaps you're not going to be the person who gets the job."
