Rodrigo failed to make Enrique's squad for the European Championships but Spain have called up six additional players to their camp after captain Sergio Busquets tested positive for Covid-19.

That has forced Enrique to pull his senior squad from tonight's friendly against Lithuania in Leganes, which will instead be played by Spain’s under-21s.

The Spanish football federation has also taken steps to mitigate the potential consequences of a positive test in the camp by calling up six more players to their base in Las Rozas.

Spain initially announced that four players had been called - Rodrigo plus two more attackers in West Ham’s Pablo Fornals and Celta Vigo’s Brais Méndez along with Valencia ‘keeper Carlos Soler.

It was then announced that both Villareal defender Raúl Albiol and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga were also joining the fray.

The new arrivals are training under Enrique’s orders within a parallel bubble and the Spanish football federation shared footage of the initial quartet training on Tuesday afternoon.

"It is impossible to find a better predisposition," said Enrique.

The Spanish football federation say that the definitive incorporation to the Euro 2020 list of those new players arriving will be evaluated based on the results obtained in the coming days.
