‘He shouldn’t’ - Simon Jordan makes Daniel Farke Leeds United claim
The former Crystal Palace chairman has assessed the situation at Leeds United ahead of the January transfer window.
Daniel Farke should have made a firm decision over his future at Leeds United in the aftermath of the summer transfer window.
That was the verdict of former Crystal Palace owner and chairman Simon Jordan as he assessed comments made by the Whites boss explaining what could lie ahead when the January transfer window opens for business. After securing a return to the Premier League with a dramatic Championship title win, the Elland Road hierarchy oversaw a transfer spend of around £100m as ten new faces were added to Farke’s ranks in preparation to take on the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
The likes of Lukas Nmecha, Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson have all impressed during the opening four months of the season and look set to play key roles in the battle against relegation over the remainder of the season. However, there was also a feeling the Whites had left themselves short in key areas and a winger and an attacking midfielder are believed to be among their priority targets when the transfer window opens next month.
Farke appeared to hint at some frustration left over by the events of the summer months in a press conference earlier this week before he insisted his focus remained on building on the impressive midweek win against Chelsea.
Speaking about preparations for the January transfer window, Farke said: "During this week I'm definitely too busy, so I have not one one per cent energy to waste during this week to think about, okay, what could happen? It's also important what happens in terms of injuries or long term injuries, finger crossed that nothing will happen. It also depends on how the players deliver right now in the upcoming games, where we think, okay, there is something that we can improve.
He continued: “I spoke most of the summer about what I would have liked to sign and this has not gone away. But right now, during this week, my spotlight is just on Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, not too much what happens from January 1. So yes, in the background, of course, the club is preparing, and we are preparing what is necessary to do, but it's not the time during this week to speak about. Right now, the focus is just on these upcoming games, and right now a home game against the reigning champions."
What has Simon Jordan said about Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United?
Jordan was asked if Farke should have walked away from his role at Elland Road if he was unhappy with the business conducted by the Whites during the summer transfer window. The former Crystal Palace owner and chairman told talkSPORT: “That’s what people should have to do. If the board had promised him something and then didn’t deliver, he’d have every right to whine about it. If they haven’t promised him that and told him, ‘We understand what you want, but this is what you’re getting,’ and ultimately it’s what they can do, he has no right to whine. He can either accept it or leave, and if he accepts it, he shouldn’t be in the press moaning about it.”
