Scrap European Super League plan to preserve magic of English football - YEP Comment
The pictures plastered on the YEP’s front page today say more than words ever could.
The key moments and milestones in Leeds United’s history that they depict will continue to be cherished and treasured for decades to come.
Leeds has experienced the highest of highs climbing the English footballing pyramid.
And in 1992, elation washed over the city when Howard Wilkinson’s side won the last ever title of Division 1 as England’s top tier domestic competition.
To put that into perspective, Leeds had fought off Second Division relegation only four years earlier.
That is the true magic that the English football model is able to evoke.
And to safeguard that magic - and these memories - the Super League must be scrapped.
