Rodrigo says Leeds United remain focused on first season objective despite impressive start

Leeds United forward Rodrigo says it is safety first for Marcelo Bielsa's side but admits the Whites' have made an impressive start to life in the top flight.

The Elland Road club have won three of their opening six Premier League games so far.

A strong showing against Liverpool on the opening day at Anfield has been backed up by the accumulation of 10 points for the newly-promoted side ahead of Monday's clash with Leicester City.

Rodrigo - who made a record breaking £27m plus add ons move to Leeds this summer - says that despite a good start the first aim remains survival in LS11.

"We need to play each game as the last one and we will see," Rodrigo said over this season's ambitions.

"A team that comes from the second division, the first objective of the year is always to maintain the category.

"In football we never know. We never know in this league. We are showing we have a level to compete against everyone here.

"We played against Liverpool a very good game. We played against Man City a very good game.

"We need to keep showing we have a level to stay in the Premier League and that's it."

Asked about his time at Leeds so far, he said: "I feel really happy. I was really excited to join this big club and join the Premier League again.

"I think it is a very important moment for everyone here in the city and the club.

"The club has come back to the place it deserves and we have started really well.

"We are in a good way to have a good season. It was a great feeling to score against a club like Man City.

"The goal helped the team also to get a better result. I hope that I can help the team with more goals in the next games."
