Leeds United's record signing Rodrigo bagged a late assist in Spain's 1-1 draw with Germany on Thursday evening.

The 29-year-old forward was named in the starting line-up by Luis Enrique for their Group 4 Nations League encounter as he saw his first competitive action since July 1, completing 90 minutes.

Fellow Leeds new boy Robin Koch, meanwhile, was handed a spot on the bench by head coach Joachim Low.

Spain's lone front man looked bright in spells displaying good link-up play and was thwarted by goalkeeper Kevin Trapp in his opening chance of the first half after a loose pass from Emre Can.

Timo Werner broke the deadlock after the break before Rodrigo himself fizzed a shot inches over the bar with the visitors looking to respond.

Koch was then introduced as time expired in Stuttgart as he faced off against his new team-mate.

The 24-year-old was brought on in a bid to sure up the German defence but Rodrigo had other ideas as his cushioned header allowed Jose Gaya to level the affair deep into added time.

The Whites smashed their long-standing transfer record to capture the striker from La Liga side Valencia last weekend in a deal worth £27m plus add ons.

Koch also joined from Bundesliga outfit Freiburg on the same day for an initial fee of £13m as Marcelo Bielsa continues to shape his top flight squad.

Both Rodrigo and Koch will now prepare for a final outing of the international break for their respective countries before returning to Thorp Arch to adjust to their new surroundings.
