Summer recruit Koch suffered further damage to a knee problem in December's 3-1 loss at Chelsea and subsequently required surgery.

The 24-year-old initially injured his knee during his Whites debut in the opening day defeat at Liverpool but still played the full duration of United's first ten Premier League games under the guidance of the club's medical and science staff.

Koch said in December that he hoped to be back on the field by the spring and now the centre-back has taken to social media to provide a positive update regarding his recovery.

The German international posted a photograph of himself looking fit, healthy and smiling on an exercise bike accompanied by the words 'comeback sessions' together with an emoji of an hourglass with flowing sand.

Speaking in December to Bild, Koch said: " In view of a very important year for me in 2021, it is now crucial to be able to be back on the field in spring."

Koch is also a key part of the Germany squad who are heading to the summer's European Championships.
