The 24-year-old is currently enjoying his first season of Premier League football with the Elland Road club.

Raphinha made the move from French outfit Stade Rennes last summer and has been in scintillating form throughout his debut campaign under Marcelo Bielsa's watch, scoring six goals and bagging six assists in league action.

In March the Leeds wide man dedicated his goal against Southampton to Ronaldinho following his mother's passing from coronavirus, revealing a shirt with a message of condolence to the watching TV cameras.

The ex-Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG star responded on social media thanking him for the support and has now received a present from his countryman in the form of a Leeds shirt.

Raphinha - who posted pictures on social media of Ronaldinho receiving the gift - signed and wrote a message of thanks, which said: "I will always be very grateful, thanks for everything you did for football. Thanks to you I could dream and I keep dreaming. Thank you wizard for being my inspiration."

The pair are close family friends, as the Whites winger explained recently: "Since I was little he was my greatest idol because of the way he played.

“The joy and spontaneity he played with on the pitch and the happiness that emanated from him - I always admired him for that.

“My dad was a childhood friend of his so we ended up being close. Because of the person he is, I've always been inspired by him both as a person and a player.

"The most important thing for me is to enjoy myself whilst I'm doing what I love the most, which is playing football.

"When I'm on the pitch, I try to be happy and do my best."
