The fixture change, which will see Leeds host the Saints later in the season instead of next Wednesday (January 20), allows Southampton's FA Cup game against Shrewsbury Town to be played instead.

Leeds were approached about the change on Monday and were open to the idea.

Shrewsbury's outbreak of COVID-19 forced the postponement of the cup tie and it will now go ahead next Tuesday.

No date has yet been set for Leeds' home clash with the Saints but the YEP understands a February date is likely.

Marcelo Bielsa's Whites exited the FA Cup themselves on Sunday with a shock 3-0 defeat at League Two side Crawley, but are back in Premier League action on Saturday with the visit to Elland Road of Brighton and Hove Albion. The game will bring the return of last season's Young Player of the Season Ben White, who shone on loan for Bielsa during the Championship winning campaign.

The Seagulls are playing tonight against Manchester City.
