Daniel Farke’s side hit Championship lift-off in Saturday’s clash at former leaders Ipswich Town as a 4-3 victory gave the Whites their first league win upon their second tier return. Fourth-tier outfit Salford now lie in wait in Tuesday evening’s Carabao Cup clash in bid to progress through to the competition’s last 16.
Farke made six changes to his league side for the first round clash at home to Shrewsbury Town but the Leeds manager still has a large number of players out injured. But plenty of alterations are again expected in the 8pm kick-off at the Peninsula Stadium and this is the XI that we think will set out against Neil Wood’s Ammies who sit tenth in League Two.

An obvious one and a second Whites start for Darlow whose only Leeds outing so far came in the first round clash against Shrewsbury for which first choice keeper Illan Meslier was given the night off. Same again. The first of nine changes, in for Meslier. Photo: George Wood
. RB: Cody Drameh
Drameh was brought on to replace the injured Sam Byram at left back in Saturday's win at Ipswich but had a torrid time of things and was then substituted himself during the half-time break. Not a nice experience for him. But Farke defended Drameh in his post-match press conference and Tuesday's cup tie presents an obvious chance to get back on track in his natural position of right. . CB: Charlie Cresswell
Another obvious one and a confident pick. Cresswell was named on the bench at Ipswich as Pascal Struijk was given the nod to partner Joe Rodon at centre-half, Cresswell finally brought on in the 89th minute. But it's probably pretty close between him and Struijk at present and it seems sensible to think that Cresswell will now be given a chance against Salford. Probably just a case of who partners him. . CB - Pascal Struijk
Centre-back Struijk proved United's saviour against Shrewsbury with his 58th-minute winner, just 13 minutes after being brought on from the bench. It will be interesting to see what Farke does with his defence at Salford but resting Joe Rodon might be his port of call. Struijk might be an outside bet to wear the captain's armband if Ayling is rested although Rodon screams captain material and it would be no surprise to see him with it at some stage. Leo Hjelde, Ayling or Ethan Ampadu are other options at centre-back if Farke wants to give Struijk a rest. Photo: Danny Lawson
7. CM - Jamie Shackleton
A player who is fast becoming a mini Stuart Dallas, play him where you like and you'll get a good response. Shackleton was excellent at Ipswich, providing a beautiful pass to set up Luis Sinisterra's goal and he seems sure to start at Salford, it's just a case of where. But if Farke wants to give Ampadu and Gray a rest ahead of Saturday's league hosting of Sheffield Wednesday then Shackleton in centre midfield is an obvious option. The sixth change, in for Gray. 8. RW - Crysencio Summerville
This all depends on Summerville's condition, the Dutch attacker a surprise inclusion amongst the substitutes at Ipswich upon recovering from the groin strain picked up in the opening weekend draw against Cardiff. Farke revealed after Saturday's win at Ipswich that Summerville had only re-joined team training the previous day and that he was only there in case Leeds needed a bit of magi. But the Whites boss also said that Summerville could be a "topic" at Salford and it might be that he gets a start. A seventh change, in for Sinisterra. Photo: Alex Caparros
9. LW - Willy Gnonto
The Gnonto saga all started with the first round Carabao Cup clash against Shrewsbury for which the 19-year-old Italian refused to be involved in after being informed he would not be sold this summer. But having now been reintegrated back into the group, perhaps Gnonto will be given the chance to make the right Carabao Cup impression this time around having returned with a bang in Saturday's win at Ipswich. 10. ACM - Sam Greenwood
Greenwood got seven minutes from the bench in the 1-1 draw against West Brom upon his return from injury and was then an unused substitute at Ipswich. Assuming fitness allows, he looks an obvious starter at Salford although in which position remains to be seen and it's hard to be clear what his best position is. Perhaps he will get another go in the no 10 role although deeper in midfield would not be a surprise. The eighth change, in for Joel Piroe who might well be rested ahead of Saturday's Owls clash. 11. ST - Joe Gelhardt
It's not quite happening for Gelhardt as a no 9 at present but the 21-year-old did score the goal that drew Leeds level against Shrewsbury and he looks the obvious starter in the position at Salford if Farke wants to rest the likes of Piroe and Georginio Rutter.
