Boss Daniel Farke made six changes to his side for last weekend’s FA Cup fourth round hosting of Plymouth Argyle which ended in a 1-1 draw, leading to a replay at Home Park next Tuesday night. But focus now shifts back to to club’s promotion bid and a chance to move into the division’s automatic promotion places with victory against the Robins.
Farke had six players out injured for last weekend’s cup clash against Plymouth and provided his team news for Friday night’s clash in Bristol at Wednesday afternoon’s pre-match press conference. Following Farke’s updates, this is the XI that we think will step out against Liam Manning’s mid-table hosts.
7. CM: Glen Kamara
Kamara was given the afternoon off against Plymouth as an unused substitute as Cooper came in to the team and Ampadu moved into midfield but it seems very likely that a fresh Kamara will now come back into the team for the same midfield that saw Leeds to victory against Norwich. The third change, in for Cooper. Photo: George Wood
8. LW: Crysencio Summerville
Probably the best news of Farke's pre-match press conference, the quick return of star man Summerville from the adductor issue that led to him not featuring in the matchday squad last weekend. A complete no brainer that he returns out wide. The fourth change. But for who? Photo: George Wood
9. RW: Jaidon Anthony
A choice of Anthony or Willy Gnonto, who were both given starts against Plymouth in the cup. But it's not happening for Gnonto at present who looked extremely disappointed and frustrated upon being taken off in the second half. Anthony, meanwhile, scored a fine goal that should have proved the foundation for sending Leeds through and just a third league start now looks likely upon Dan James still being out. A big chance for the Bournemouth loanee. Photo: George Wood
10. ACM: Georginio Rutter
It was slightly surprising to see record signing Rutter's name on the team sheet for the cup clash against Plymouth but his presence will be very much expected against Bristol City as part of the new look first choice front two as he plays in the no 10 role. Photo: George Wood
11. ST: Patrick Bamford
Joel Piroe was given a go in the no 9 role against Plymouth but failed to really excel and there's surely no doubt that Bamford - who has scored four from his last five starts - will now return upfront. The fifth and final change, in for Piroe. Photo: George Wood
