Former Whites centre-back Jansson remains on course to come up against Leeds next season with Brentford who romped to a 5-0 victory in Saturday's Championship clash at Preston North End.

Thomas Frank's side are third in the second tier and Jansson then discovered that his first club Malmo had began the new Swedish league season with a 3-2 victory at home to Hammarby thanks to Jonas Knudsen's 90th-minute winner.

Better still, it also came after Jansson's former club Leeds recorded an epic 2-1 victory at the Premier Division's runaway leaders Manchester City, despite playing over half of the game with ten men.

Jansson took to his Twitter page on Saturday evening to say: "What a lovely day! Important win and a great performance from everyone involved!

"Then 90 minutes work on the coach just done and three points to Malmo,

"And what a performance by my friends at Leeds and 2-1 against City!"
