Phillips was England s Man of the Match in their Euro 2020 opener, thanks to a dominant midfield performance in a more advanced role than the one he occupies for Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds.

The 25-year-old lines up alongside Declan Rice once more in Gareth Southgate's midfield against the Scots, for whom Cooper is among the substitutes. Steve Clarke has instead opted to bring in the returning Kieran Tierney, fit again after a calf injury ruled the Arsenal man out of the first game of the tournament.
