England international midfielder Phillips was left heartbroken after his grandmother Val Crosby passed away last week.

Phillips is currently out injured but his side moved into the Premier League's top half with Tuesday's win against Southampton and Stuart Dallas celebrated United's second goal against the Saints by holding aloft a shirt with 'Granny Val' on the back of it.

Dallas' strike came either side of goals from Bamford and Raphinha as Leeds moved tenth and United striker Bamford hailed the unity of United's squad as the club remembered a lady who particularly won hearts with her appearances on the Take Us Home: Leeds United documentary on Amazon Prime.

United's players also posed together as a squad in the aftermath of Tuesday night's triumph for photographs whilst holding the shirt for Granny Val.

"The squad is very together," Bamford told Sky Sports, asked about the tribute.

"I have said it in a lot of interviews before that it's a tight knit bunch of lads and I think that anyone who was watched the documentary on Amazon will see that Granny Val is like a big part of the club indirectly and loads of people have grown to love her without even knowing her.

"It's a big loss and that one was for Kalvin and his family."
