Pascal Struijk says he is 'living the dream' after putting pen to paper on a new contract at Elland Road.

The 21-year-old has signed an improved four-year deal in West Yorkshire, which sees his stay extended at the club until the summer of 2024.

Struijk has made four Premier League appearances this term under Marcelo Bielsa amassing 257 minutes of on-pitch action.

The Dutch central defender can also play as a holding midfielder and was subject to an early substitution against Aston Villa last month following a yellow card.

He was also thrown in at the deep end for United's opening day visit to Liverpool after a number of injuries left Bielsa short at the back on Merseyside.

Since his arrival from Ajax in 2018, Struijk has made the step up from development football to consistent first team squad member and admits he is pleased with his progress so far.

“I feel super happy,” said Struijk after signing his new contract.

“It’s always nice to be offered a new deal, it shows me confidence that the club believes in me and I am very happy.

“I’ve signed a four-year deal, so I hope to achieve a lot more and grow as a player myself.

“It was a big jump for me when I left Ajax and ever since it has been really good.

“Playing in the Premier League and seeing the level you are playing against has always been a dream and I’m currently living the dream.”
