Promotion-winning heroes Berardi and Hernandez are both leaving the club this summer having spent five seasons together since Hernandez joined from Al-Arabi in August 2016.

Berardi had signed for the club from Sampdoria in July 2014 and the duo combined to great effect to help Leeds finally return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.

The pair then played alongside each other for one last time in Sunday's season finale at home to West Brom but Hernandez hopes the duo could one day be reunited in a football sphere.

Providing a moving final message in an interview with LUTV as he sat next to Berardi, Hernandez said: "Thank you to the fans, for these five years, and thank you to Berra.

"For me it was a pleasure to share the dressing room with him and learn from him.

"I think he is an example for all of the players for his spirit, his behaviour on the pitch and off the pitch and he is an example for everybody.

"I know you like a team mate but I think now I can say goodbye to you like a friend.

"I hope in your future you can continue with your career in a good way with your new club and who knows, maybe in the future we can enjoy it together again, maybe in football, maybe not as players but maybe as managers or something like this.

"In football everything can happen but it's been a pleasure."
