Our performance against Southampton may have felt more like two points dropped than one gained, but it came with more good signs that we should be more comfortable in our Premier League security this season than last and another strong goal-scoring performance from Rodrigo who looks like he’s ready to step up a level.

The holes that remain in our squad seem glaringly obvious, as both striker and left back continue to be problem positions but there is plenty of time left in the window yet and we might see these issues addressed.

Our next game against Chelsea looks set to be our biggest challenge of the season so far and a real test of how much our squad has grown over the summer.

Last season, it was games against the top six sides that really exposed our defence’s weaknesses, and we will be hoping to see a more cohesive performance this time.

Our squad has undergone big changes and the players have had a full pre-season to adapt to our new style of play, whether that will be enough to put up a fight against Chelsea remains to be seen.

The game will also give those of you who haven’t had the chance already an opportunity to check out our newest mural right outside Elland Road.

The mural is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 72’ FA Cup winning squad and features a range of club legends from our past.

Once again we’d like to give a big thanks to everyone involved in getting the mural done, from artists Nicolas Dixon and Paul Trevillion to our sponsor Boost Drinks and the club for providing the site.

As with all home games be sure to look out for Leeds Fans Foodbank taking collections outside the cheese wedge entrance.

It would be great to get the new season off to a good start with plenty of donations in these first few home games.
