Ian Wright has delivered his verdict on Leeds United’s performance against Brighton on Saturday.

The Whites were defeated 1-0 by the Seagulls, with a Neal Maupay goal proving enough to hand Graham Potter's side the victory.

Indeed, Marcelo Bielsa’s side managed just two efforts on target, quite the departure from Leeds’ usual attacking brilliance.

"They looked right off it. It didn’t go for them,” Wright said on Match of the Day.

"I was surprised they didn't play more through their midfield. I know they were without Kalvin Phillips, who is a massive miss for them.

"They went a bit long, it was obvious to me, the midfielders players didn't look to receive the ball, the forwards are looking long.

"The defenders are just trying to go long, which was very surprising.

"Nobody came towards it and it was very easy for Brighton. It was very unusual and easy for Brighton in the end, they did their homework. That type of game for Leeds."

"Leeds were very disappointing from an offensive point of view, as their manager said. Brighton closed Leeds down.

He concluded: "They set the traps, Ben White had a great game today, alongside [Joel] Veltman who was brilliant today, [Adam] Webster was brilliant today.”
