Northampton Town boss outlines role for Leeds United's Ryan Edmondson

Edmondson was in line to make his Northampton debut in Saturday's League One clash at home to Oxford United but the game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Edmondson could instead now make his first appearance for the Cobblers in Tuesday night's clash at Blackpool and Curle has hailed the attributes that the Whites loanee will bring to his team.

"Ryan an all-action player and he won't shy away from the physical side of the game, but he can score goals as well," Curle told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

"He's got a work ethic and a desire to work.

"He wants to score goals so he gets himself into the action areas in the middle of the goal but he's also happy to get involved physically so he can be a focal point that we can play through.

"He knows he will be in direct competition with an opposition player but he wants to run in behind and work defenders and he's a fit player."

Northampton signed Edmondson on loan until the end of the season last Thursday after the 19-year-old's loan spell at SPL side Aberdeen came to an end.

The Cobblers were competing with other clubs in their division plus outfits in the SPL and League Two to sign the teenager on loan for the rest of the season.
