The Brazilian winger signed at Elland Road just after 10pm on Monday night, in time to beat the transfer deadline and give Leeds their 13th signing of the window.

He admits life in Marcelo Bielsa's demanding regime at Thorp Arch will be a new experience, but the 23-year-old is confident his willingness to work will marry well with his head coach's expectations.

“From what I've been told he's a very demanding coach who really works players to the limit," said the new boy told Sky.

“This is a new challenge for me. I like this type of demand on a player so I will give my all and the result will be a good one."

Raphinha first moved to Portugal when he left South America behind to ply his trade in Europe and after spells with Vitória Guimarães and Sporting, signed for Rennes in Ligue 1 for €21m ahead of the 2019/20 season.

He helped the French club to a third-place finish in the league and Champions League qualification but played his last game for them on Sunday, scoring against Reims.

A Sunday night flight on a private jet brought him to Yorkshire and he passed a medical on Monday morning before completing the deal in the final hour of the window.

His dreams include Champions League football and involvement in the Brazilian national team, but he also wanted to taste top flight football in England.

And with the move finalised, he's looking forward to entertaining Whites fans with his pace and trickery on the wing.

“Without a doubt it's a very important next step in my career," he said.

"All players dream of coming to the Premier League and for me it is a dream come true.

“I think I can show Rahinha's football to the fans and make them happy and in terms of helping Leeds to make the next step without a doubt I'll give my all. I will contribute to the group so we can meet our objectives.”
