Brighton forward Neal Maupay believes the Seagulls pre-match game plan worked to perfection in his side's 1-0 victory over Leeds United.

Marcelo Bielsa's outfit fell to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Graham Potter's visitors on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road.

The Whites put it a lethargic performance and fell behind after just 17 minutes as Maupay tapped home unchallenged after a brilliant team move.

Leeds mustered somewhat of a response after the half-time interval but failed to ever really trouble visiting goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Albion's players we left celebrating at full-time as they bagged their first Premier League victory in 10 games.

Maupay - who is no stranger to Leeds fans following his time with Brentford - said post-match he believed that the Seagulls' tactics worked to perfection in LS11.

"It's a big, big moment for us," Maupay told Sky Sports afterwards.

"A much needed win. We have had some tough weeks and Leeds are a hard team to play.

"The plan was to try and keep the ball and effect them in behind as they are really good at pressing the ball. Everything worked well, we defended together and attacked well. It's a good game for us."

Asked about the impact the win will have on the season, he said: "It's three points. It's a huge [result] for us, we have quality but we need to push on and get more wins."
