Mark Jackson has praised the attitude of a very senior Leeds United Under-23s outfit following a 2-0 victory over Norwich City.

The Whites development side were back in Premier League 2 action on Sunday afternoon at Thorp Arch after the club's first team stars had swept aside Aston Villa on Friday night.

Marcelo Bielsa made a number of senior squad members available for the clash against the Canaries with Pablo Hernandez, Ian Poveda, Tyler Roberts, Kiko Casilla, Pascal Struijk and deadline day signing Raphinha all featuring at the club's training ground.

United have a week to prepare for their next Premier League outing as they welcome Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City to Elland Road next Monday evening in front of the television cameras.

Leeds ran out victors over Norwich as they downed their top-of-the-table counterparts with Poveda and Raphinha both getting on the scoresheet amid important match minutes for Bielsa's current back-up options.

Jackson, who is still in the early stages of his tenure in charge of United's Under-23s outfit, praised the commitment and desire of those involved in a professional display.

"A lot of the players stepping down from the first team squad showed an exceptional attitude and application," he said post-match.

"They really showed their quality. We spoke before the game about that responsibility to keep the momentum going for the club and keep that good feeling that the first team have created.

"I thought the whole team did that. You've got young players on the bench who will be disappointed not to play but that's how it should be.

"I thought the whole performance was good and they all showed a fantastic attitude.

"We've got to live up to our identity from what the manager has created at the football club. We want that to filter down to the 23s and throughout."

Asked about the game, he added: "Norwich are a very good team and put us under some pressure. It had to be a good performance and the boys delivered that."
