Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed Gaetano Berardi has recovered from a calf injury to be in contention for selection this weekend.

The Swiss defender has missed the Whites last two Championship outings but has now been passed for for the visit of Wigan Athletic to Elland Road in league action on Saturday afternoon.

Barry Douglas, though, remains sidelined with Bielsa hoping the left-back will return to first-team training in the near future.

"We don’t have new injured players," Bielsa revealed. "Berardi is available, he is recovered. Douglas is close to coming back to training."

The full-back joins long-term absentee Adam Forshaw (hip) in the Thorp Arch treatment room with Bielsa now having only two injury concerns in his senior squad.

Key midfielder Kalvin Phillips remains missing as he serves the second game of a three match suspension against the Latics while new signing Jean-Kevin Augustin could make the bench in LS11.

The French forward watched on from the stands in midweek as United secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Millwall.

Bielsa was boosted by the return of attacking option Tyler Roberts to his squad against the Lions with winger Ian Poveda also awaiting his Whites debut having joined from Manchester City last week.
