Marcelo Bielsa creates Leeds United history with Fulham win as Mateusz Klich celebrates landmark

Marcelo Bielsa created a piece of Leeds United history against Fulham on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road.

The Argentine became the quickest Whites manager in the club's 100-year history to claim 50 competitive wins as he raced to the achievement in just 93 matches.

Bielsa saw his outfit claim a priceless 3-0 win over the visiting Cottagers to West Yorkshire as they took hold of the automatic promotion race in the Championship.

Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich also celebrated a landmark in the victory in LS11 as he earned his 100th start for the club - a feat not many would have predicted when he was sent out on loan under former boss Thomas Christiansen in 2018.

The Poland international capped the day with a crucial pass in the build up to United's second goal of the afternoon which went a long way to securing victory.

Patrick Bamford opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a lovely finish from the edge of the area before Leeds held off a Fulham fightback before the interval.

The Whites, though, secured victory through substitute Gjanni Alioski - who calmly slotted home from inside the box - and winger Jack Harrison who latched onto an inch-perfect pass from Pablo Hernandez.

Neeskens Kebano also saw red for Scott Parker's men in injury-time as he picked up a second yellow for a foul on Luke Ayling.

With the win Bielsa's men hit top spot in their search for Premier League football and opened up an eight-point gap over third-placed Brentford in the automatic promotion race.

Leeds also landed a huge blow to now fourth-placed Fulham, who sit 10 points behind United with just seven games of the run-in remaining.
