Stoke had arrived at United's training ground Carrington and were in the academy building when they discovered the result of O'Neil's test.

The 50-year-old will now isolate and under EFL protocols can only return to Stoke's training ground once he has tested negative.

His club have said he will be in contact with his staff and players online, while assistant Billy McKinlay takes charge of training.

Stoke, 17th in the Championship table, face Reading in their first game after the suspension on June 20 and are due to come to Elland Road on July 7.
