Diego Llorente has had a tough time of it since joining Leeds United last summer.

The Spain international has suffered with injuries which has seen him limited to just five Premier League starts and one substitute appearance under Marcelo Bielsa this term.

A report from his homeland, though, has caused some laughter among Whites supporters.

Just hours after he was named in the Spain squad for their March international fixtures on Monday, Llorente was the subject of a bizarre claim by outlet Gol Digital.

The report's claim that Real Betis are interested in taking the centre-half is no real surprise, due to his status and the career he's had to date, not to mention the Premier League performances he's put in for Leeds.

'The player is not a starter in his team,' claims the article. 'The technical decision on the part of [Marcelo Bielsa] is to continue relegating him to the bench,' it continues, ignoring the fact that Llorente has been out injured for the vast majority of the season.

And here's what Leeds fans have had to say about the report and Llorente in our latest social media talking point:

@morleywhites Manager doesn’t play injured player more shock. #lufc

@deancore As plenty have said before, players like Llorente or Rodrigo not starting will be big news back home like a Stones or Kane not starting for their teams. also Bielsa has gone on record Llorente is 3rd choice left centre half and 2nd choice right centre half.

@LeedsUtdRyan If Liam Cooper is back for Leeds on Friday night I wouldn't start him even though he is captain, Llorente & Struijk didn't put a foot wrong against Chelsea on Saturday #lufc #mot

@eltel89 Crazy that we have gone from playing with 1 senior CB, to having all of these available: Llorente, Struijk, Cooper, Koch, Berardi. Edging closer to full-strength, for the 1st time this season. #lufc

@benji_coops I'm pleased for Llorente getting called up for international duty.... But I hope he doesn't play, you can see the injury coming. #lufc

@LufcLuca_ Koch was brought in as the main cb and Llorente as cover, so you’d think it’ll be Koch and Struijk next season
