Leicester City star facing hamstring assessment before Leeds United clash with Jamie Vardy already out

Centre midfielder Ndidi and centre-back Jonny Evans were both substituted in Wednesday night's 1-1 draw at Everton but Rodgers is optimistic about Evans who had blurred vision in one eye.

The Foxes are already without star striker Jamie Vardy who is facing a few weeks out due to a minor operation on a hernia issue.

In his absence, Spaniard Ayoze Perez has started upfront in Leicester's last two games and played the full duration of Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Everton.

That outing came three days after taking in 81 minutes in the role in Sunday's 3-1 win at Brentford in the FA Cup third round.

Goals from Cengiz Under and James Maddison either side of a Youri Tielemans penalty saw the Foxes net three times at Brentford whilst Tielemans netted in the 67th minute at Everton to level matters after James Rodriguez' opener.

Nigerian international Ndidi was replaced by Nampalys Mendy three minutes before the break whilst Northern Ireland international Evans was taken off for Caglar Soyuncu with 13 minutes left.

Ndidi clearly had an issue with his hamstring and Rodgers said: "It just tightened up.

"He doesn't think he's over stretched it or tore it but we will just have to assess that.

"He felt it tighten in a certain part of his hamstring so we couldn't risk it any more.

"Jonny just had blurred vision in one eye from when he went up for a header once so we think he will be okay."

The draw left the Foxes third, one point behind second-placed Manchester United and two adrift of leaders Manchester City who have a game in hand.
