Leicester City are reportedly in danger of a points deduction next season, should they win promotion to the Premier League. The Foxes currently top the Championship and despite losing their last three league games, they in a promising promotion as they look to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

They are three points clear of their nearest rivals Ipswich Town, while Leeds United are five points back, giving Enzo Maresca's side a significant cushion at present. However, it seems promotion back to the top flight for Leicester might not be as sweet as they expect it be.

According to The Sun, the club are being questioned about two potential financial fair play rule breaches. The Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability rules state top flight outfits are permitted to lose a total of £105m over a three-season period, but there are suspicions that Leicester may have overstepped the mark while competing in the division.

The report also claims that clubs believe Leicester will exceed the losses permitted over the three years that takes in this year's Championship campaign. The Football League only permits losses of £13m per year and with two seasons of Premier League football included, they are only allowed to lose £83m. There have been suggestions that Leicester's losses could surpass that limit.

Both Everton and Nottingham Forest are awaiting punishment for breaching the Premier League's FFP rules during the same period, with the Toffees already deducted six points this season for a previous charge. As current top flight outfits they were forced to submit their accounts at the end of the last calendar year.

Leicester haven't had to reveal any numbers yet, but the report outlines suspicions that the club were in the similar position to Everton and Forest financially. The delay in Leicester's potential case following relegation means they could be back in the top flight before having anything to answer.
