Thursday's Premier League rumours

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Huesca left-back Javi Galan, after being frustrated in their pursuit of Stade Brest man Romain Perraud. The former is likely to cost considerably less than the latter, who is valued at £18m. (Various)

Udinese have set a hefty £35m asking price for star Rodrigo de Paul. Atletico Madrid are looking to sign the Argentine after he was heavily linked with Leeds United last summer. (Goal)

Victor Orta's holds left-back talks ahead of busy summer

Leeds United director of football Victor Orta spoke with a left-back at the weekend.

The player in question has, we’re told, the right attitude to play for Marcelo Bielsa and, on the strength of the conversation, moved into a strong position with regards to a possible Elland Road move.

It was at least the second time Orta conversed with a left-back last week, having sat down with Gjanni Alioski to discuss his future with Leeds.

A busy night of Whites international action

Scotland's Whites captain Liam Cooper was Leeds United’s sole starter as part of Wednesday’s internationals in preparation for the Euros.

No Republic of Ireland U-turn from Patrick Bamford expected

Stephen Kenny is not holding his breath in the hope that Leeds striker Patrick Bamford will change his mind and declare for the Republic of Ireland.

He said: “He was very close to being in contention, maybe, for England for the European Championship. It’s not realistic to suggest that at the moment, I would feel.

“I think that was obviously his objective, to go to the European Championship with England.

“There’s no doubt he’s a very good player, a quality centre-forward, but we have to believe in the talent that we have. We have to work to improve it and get better.

“It’s unusual for players to switch nationality – I’m not saying it never happens – so quickly after a situation of just being left out of a tournament. There are not many instances of that. Normally it’s over a long period.”
