Leeds United's Championship rivals Burnley have secured the signing of international striker Andréas Hountondji from SM Caen for an undisclosed fee.

The Clarets have added yet more overseas quality to their squad for 2024/25 following relegation from the Premier League with the addition of Hountondji from French Ligue 2 outfit Caen.

Hountondji spent last season on loan at Rodez Aveyron in France's second tier, contributing 23 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.

The Benin international is yet to find the back of the net for his country but had no such problem in France last term, netting on 16 occasions, 14 of which came in the league as Rodez finished fourth, narrowly missing out on promotion to the top flight.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Hountondji joins Scott Parker's squad which already includes the likes of French-speaking teammates Ameen Al-Dakhil, Maxime Esteve, Hannes Delcroix, Wilson Odobert, Mike Tresor and several others.

Leeds are yet to show their teeth in the summer market with the addition of previously-on-loan defender Joe Rodon the only big-money arrival so far. Goalkeeper Alex Cairns and midfielder Joe Rothwell have also joined up with Daniel Farke's group at Elland Road, although the latter has only signed on loan, while Cairns is likely to remain the club's third-choice goalkeeper throughout 2024/25.

Leeds host the Clarets at Elland Road on September 14, which will be each side's fifth league outing of the new season and could prove an early acid test for the two sides' title and promotion credentials.
