Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips apologises to fans for QPR red card and vows to help make promotion dream come true

The midfielder got his marching orders in the 88th minute at Loftus Road for a late, rash challenge on R's player Geoff Cameron.
Referee Peter Bankes, who missed two handballs in the lead up to the home side's winning goal, showed no hesitation in issuing Phillips' first dismissal since last season's red against Nottingham Forest.

Hide AdPhillips posted an apology on social media this morning, insisting there frustration but no malice in what he called a mistimed tackle.
"Sorry to the [Leeds] fans for my red card yesterday," he said.
"It wasn’t intentional but I timed the tackle badly. I’m a Leeds fan as well as a player so maybe a little frustration that we have all been feeling was shown but that’s never an excuse."
Phillips says he'll do everything he can to make amends and help United, still second but now only four points clear of third, to achieve their promotion dream.

"We stick together and we march on."
Rangers boss Mark Warburton, who didn't see the handballs before Nahki Wells' winner, called it a 'a very dangerous tackle' on a player who missed a significant portion of last season through injury.
Warburton also believed the second half penalty awarded to Leeds was harsh.
